Due to popular demand, we have now added a field to enable ChannelGrabber users to document the price that you buy an item for. This means you can enter and cross-check each item's Cost Price with the current stock level and get a "stock on hand" or "stock value" report by exporting your product data from ChannelGrabber. It also makes it easy to compare at a glance, with the listing price of the item on the sales channels too.
Entering Cost Price in ChannelGrabber
To view and enter cost prices, navigate to your main Products page, then click onto the Details tab/view:
Simply click into the Cost Price field for any item, and you can enter and save the price. There is no set currency for this field, so you can just enter a decimal value.
Importing & Exporting Cost Price in Bulk
If you prefer working in spreadsheet form, or already have your SKUs and Cost Prices documented outside of ChannelGrabber, then it's even easier to populate the Cost Price in CG, by uploading them from your spreadsheet!
To export your SKUs and Cost Prices, all you need to do it navigate to the main Products page and click the Stock Export button:
A .csv file will then be downloaded via your browser which will contain all SKUs currently in your main Products page. If you have already manually populated any cost prices as above, then these will be included in the file. If not, then you will have a blank column in the file for entering the Cost Price into. We recommend that you use our export file as a template, enter your data, then import it back into ChannelGrabber, as changing formats may cause errors or prevent any uploads back into CG:
If you want to update your stock levels at the same time as importing Cost Prices, then please ensure that the stock quantities in the Total Stock Column are accurate. If you only wish to update Cost Price and not touch your stock levels in CG, set all Total Stock fields to zero.
Once you have populated your spreadsheet with the cost prices, please make sure to save the file as a CSV (Comma delimited) format file:
Return to the Products page in ChannelGrabber, and click the Stock Import button:
Click on the Choose File button to select the CSV file you just saved, and then select the appropriate Stock Action. If you have the accurate stock levels in your CSV and want to update stock at the same time as cost prices, you can choose the "Set stock level" option.
However, if you followed the earlier tip and entered zero as your stock levels because you only want to use this file to enter Cost Prices, then please select either "Add to stock level" or "Remove from stock level" as that will ensure that zero is added or removed from your stock levels, and they will therefore remain unaffected:
Lastly, hit the Confirm button and your file will be uploaded into ChannelGrabber and your Cost Prices will be update once the file has been processed. Obviously the time this takes can vary depending on the volume of data you need to import.
